Why are truck accidents so much more dangerous?

Commercial trucks are much larger and heavier than passenger vehicles—up to 80,000 pounds according to the Federal Highway Administration. Accidents between smaller vehicles and tractors of this size are often much more severe than one between two comparable vehicles. Accidents with trucks are deadlier for the occupants of the smaller vehicle.

In addition, big trucks lack easy maneuverability and can sometimes carry dangerous cargo. All of these factors contribute to the increased damage caused by big trucks in accidents.
