Who regulates Florida nursing homes?

Florida nursing homes are regulated with laws and regulations issued by both the Federal government as well as the government of the state of Florida. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regulates nursing homes on the Federal level. On the state level, the Florida Department of Health and the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration are responsible for issuing regulations and investigating nursing homes.

If you suspect a loved one is being abused or neglected, you should immediately contact the Florida Department of Elder Affairs using their abuse hotline which can be located here. After reporting the abuse, you should contact the nursing home abuse lawyers at Joyce & Reyes.
