What is a medication error?

A medication error is a mistake made by a medical professional such as a pharmacist, nurse or doctor in prescribing or administering medication to a patient. There are many different types of medication errors including giving the wrong drugs, overdosing, mislabeling drugs, and failing to screen for allergies or adverse reactions with other drugs.

Medication errors can lead to injuries or even death. If a medical professional commits a medication error that causes harm to a patient, the patient may be entitled to compensation.
